I think it would be interesting to consider color relationships especially since the emotional cotent of color depends so heavily on our perception. Josef Albers made many color studies that proved the fallacy of our brains. Mark Rothko's work and paintings are based purely on color and are poetic in their own way.

I think poets who utilize color in their work can also consider the medium in which the colored text is produced. It would be interesting to experiment with color changing mediums and see how it would affect the meaning of the text. Invisible ink is only legible under certain conditions. Colored ink left in the sun fades with time. If poets addressed the medium of their work it could add another dimension to their words. Consider a poem about memory written in ink that fades, or a poem written in very temporary material like water or glue.
