Film has led me to think of color a different way, not necessarily in terms of hue/saturation, but more in how color is effected by the light around it. Different white balances effect how colors appear on film, and therefore light is an extremely important factor when talking about color. This (fairly) simple scale, called the Kelvin scale, measures the white balance of light sources, and is important in choosing which film stock to use when shooting a film. Common household bulbs emit roughly 3,200 degrees Kelvin, where as normal sunlight emits approximately 5,600 degrees Kelvin. This is also known as "Color Temperature," not in terms of just "hot" or "cold", but with a whole, scientific value.
